In the Area = Blair Athol Distillery
Blair Athol Distillery was founded in 1798 and is one of the oldest working distilleries in Scotland; the distillery creates the Blair Athol 8 year old and Blair Athol 18 year old whisky. The water used is taken from a spring source on Ben Y Vrackie and is an important component of the Bell's blend.
Blair Athol whisky has a peaty aroma and flavour which become quite deep and lengthy at the finish.
It should be noted that the Blair Athol Distillery is not in the town of Blair Atholl, the Distillery and Visitor Centre is located on the Southern Edge of Pitlochry about half a mile from the town centre – Pitlochry is about 10 miles to the south of Blair Atholl. A visitor centre was built in 1987, which today attracts around 30,000 visitors a year.
You can take a lovely tour and end with a wee dram!
